A longstanding participant: the Hünenberg Cycling Club
Veloclub Hünenberg is in charge of stage_02 Root-Michaelskreuz
Rolf Lott is a member of Veloclub Hünenberg. Together with six club members, he reads the stamp cards inserted at the Michaelskreuz. And, of course, he also takes part in the Trophy himself.
When the Raiffeisen Zuger Trophy was expanded for its 10th anniversary, the mountain stage from Root to the Michaelskreuz was added. Since then, Veloclub Hünenberg has been part of the Trophy. "I think the concept of the Zug Trophy is great. It was immediately clear to me that I would help out," says Rolf Lott, looking back on the beginning.
No internal competition
Around a dozen members have already collected kilometers for VC Hünenberg this year. Lott clearly leads the internal ranking list with around ten starts. However, there is currently no internal championship and Lott adds: "Perhaps next year we will hold a club championship again, as we did in our first trophy year. Of course, this would also include a Trophy stage."
Colourful annual program
At the end of June, the Veloclub takes the bus to Bludenz. From there, the cycling enthusiasts pedal to the Engadin, from where they cycle 220 km back to Hünenberg. During the cycling vacations in August, participants also cycle back to Hünenberg from their starting point near Cologne.
New members welcome
VC Hünenberg is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. The approximately 70 members tend to be on the road in spring/summer and more on their bikes in the fall.
