Already over 10,000 starts

The Zugerberg Finanz Trophy has already recorded over 10,000 starts by mid-August. The magic mark has never been broken so early. It shows: The Trophy is more popular than ever before.

Despite the hot temperatures, the running stage starting in Zug and the mountain stage from Schmittli Neuägeri to the Zugerberg got off to a good start after the summer break. Last week, 330 athletes took on the short and medium distances. 45 started on the long stage, even though the section between Choller and Alpenblick was flooded and a detour had to be taken. Since Monday, the Chamer Seeweg has been passable again without any problems.

The road up the Zugerberg also looks better again. The pavement damage caused by the storm in the Brunegg area has been provisionally repaired with a layer of gravel. With 190 starts after one week, the record of 583 starts from 2016 could be broken in the next three weeks.

1,000 kilometers completed

Hans-Peter Büchler from Zug has also broken a magical barrier. He already has over 1,000 kilometers on his frequent starter account and thus leads this ranking list by over 200 km. An impressive achievement by the 75-year-old. No one will be able to deny him victory in this category. The Höllgrotten Harriers are equally unassailable at the top of the club trophy. With almost 1,300 starts, they have already collected over 8,000 kilometers. The second-placed Veloclub Menzingen has covered a total of 5,900 kilometers with around 1,100 starts. The race for 3rd, 4th and 5th place is still wide open; the Stubaians are currently in 3rd place with 3,300 km, the Pauwerbiker are in 4th place with 3,000 km and the Cham running group is in 5th place with 2,800 km.
