Around half a minute faster with three kilos less

Personal trainer Christian Pötzsch gives tips like these to the Trophy participants on the Chnollen, the mountain stage finish in Menzingen. Pötzsch supports the Raiffeisen Zuger Trophy with his company <link cpsports.ch>CP Sports</link> and is offering another free lactate measurement next Saturday, July 7, 2018.
Leo Tedesco already had his ear pricked last Saturday, June 30. For him and his son Marc, the 3.4 kilometers and 210 vertical meters were the intensive start to a bike tour together. Marc, who plays ice hockey for the EVZ 2nd team, is enjoying the ideal summer training. Leo is a member of the Menzingen Cycling Club and has been clocking up plenty of club kilometers. He would like to complete the current stage in under 14 minutes, i.e. 30 to 40 seconds faster. "With around 20 watts more power, you can do it," explains Christian Pötzsch, "and with around three kilos less, you'll be a good half a minute faster over this distance." With a grin, Pötzsch leaves open how many of the three kilos should fall on the bike or on his stomach. Leo Tedesco can definitely improve his performance with interval training on the mountain. So the Menzinger will be pedaling a few more times on the Chnollen over the next few days.
Clients' successes motivate
"I really enjoy my work as a personal trainer and coach," says Pötzsch. He experiences special moments time and time again: "When a client is advised to stop running due to an injury and two years later finishes a triathlon without any complaints, that's a real highlight." Before Pötzsch set up his own business as a personal trainer at the beginning of 2016, he worked in diagnostics at a cycling laboratory. So he definitely knows what he's talking about. He also has a lot of competition experience, which is why it's worth coming to the Chnollen next Saturday, 7 July between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. to pick up his training tips.
