Will Kevin Zürcher win the current stage?

One week before the end of the stage, Jens Groos from Lucerne is leading the overall road bike rankings. Now Kevin Zürcher from Zug has improved the course record of the current Mountain Trophy by six seconds. An exciting neck-and-neck race.

Kevin Zürcher is a well-known Trophy name. He already won stages 5 and 6 last year. His preparation for the 2019 edition of the Raiffeisen Zuger Trophy was severely compromised by a long-term knee injury. "I wasn't able to train all winter and only completed my first training sessions shortly before the first stage," says the Schwyz resident. Now he is "overjoyed" to be able to ride from the start.

Variable training volume
How much he trains depends very much on the focus of the week, which races are coming up and how intense the office life of the trained businessman is at the time. Kevin Zürcher has been a member of one of the largest sports clubs in the canton of Glarus, Rad Bike Team Fridolin, for many years. He chose it back then because it offered racing bike training. And he has remained loyal to it even after moving from Schübelbach (SZ) to Zug. "But I also work closely with the Radnroll Velocenter from Samstagern, which is why I can often be found wearing their cycling kit." And what about other sports? He likes to go hiking in the fall and cross-country skiing in the winter. And, of course, he is also regularly out and about on his bike.

End of the stage on Sunday
Jens Groos still has the opportunity to reclaim the course record on the Zugerberg until next Sunday, July 14 at 4 pm. The Raiffeisen Zuger-Trophy will then go into its summer break and the timing devices in Herti and Schmittli and on the Zugerberg will disappear. Four weeks later, on Saturday, August 10, 2019, it will start again in Menzingen.
