End of stage with four course records
The 3rd stage of the Zuger Trophy came to an end last Sunday. Four new course records were set in Ennetsee. A Mountain Trophy debutant is the fastest female mountain biker.
In Ennetsee, Myriam Keiser and Doris Nagel-Wallimann fought a duel for victory over the three distances. The younger of the two was also the faster on the short and middle laps. Myriam Keiser secured victory over the 2.2 and 5.1 kilometers in 7'42 minutes and 18'42 minutes respectively. Doris Nagel-Wallimann won the 14-kilometre lap with a new course record of 56'08 min. In the men's race, Philipp Arnold from Cham beat the old records by three seconds on the short lap and by over three minutes on the long one. Two new, fast runners from TSV Rotkreuz appeared on the middle stage. Angus Fölmli won - also with a new course record - in 16'02 minutes, four seconds ahead of his club colleague Roman Renner.
Well-known names
In the Mountain Trophy course, which was extended by 500 meters up the Zugerberg, well-known names were at the top of the podium. In the running category, Philipp Arnold was again the fastest in 15'22 minutes. In the women's category, Zug's serial winner Conny Odermatt secured 1st place. On a racing bike, Kevin Zürcher from Zug and Claudia Sutter from Lucerne overcame the 380 meters of altitude difference the fastest (15'58 and 16'33 min. respectively) and among the mountain bikers it was Marco Hersche (14'16 min.) and the Trophy debutant from Lupfig, Janina Wüst, who pedalled the hardest.
Via coach to the Trophy
Janina Wüst is a member of VC Gränichen and is aiming for the top 10 of the Swiss Bike Cup in 2020. She found out about the Trophy through her coach Christian Pötzsch, who is sponsoring the next Zug Trophy stage in Menzingen with his coaching company CP Sports. "His" mountain stage from Menzingen over 3.4 kilometers and 210 meters of altitude up to the Chnollen started the day before yesterday, Monday. Janina Wüst is also likely to set a new record on this route.
