Enough bite for marathons and politics

The municipality of Hünenberg has supported the Raiffeisen Zuger Trophy since it was first held. However, it is not a matter of course that the local councillors themselves take part in the Trophy. Except for Renate Huwyler, Head of Safety and Environment.

Stage 03_Ennetsee has only been running for three days and Renate Huwyler is already lacing up her running shoes for the middle section. For her, it goes without saying that the municipality of Hünenberg supports the Trophy: "It's important to us to get everyone involved in sport. The Zug Trophy offers the ideal incentive for this." She thinks it's great that so many schoolchildren take part and thus also motivate their parents to get moving.

Polysportive on the move
Renate Huwyler likes the polysportive character of the Raiffeisen Zuger Trophy. "Whether young or old, runners, walkers or cyclists, there's something for everyone," she says, praising the project. There is hardly a sport that Huwyler herself has not tried out. She has always been persistent. In the past, however, it was mainly horse riding and later tennis. Today, she is passionate about running and rowing. Although she no longer runs 42 kilometers at a stretch, a 10-kilometer lap twice a week is a fixed part of her program: "When free time is at a premium, it's wonderful to meet up with friends for sport," says the committed local councillor. She meets up with her running colleagues between six and seven o'clock. "Followed by a healthy breakfast and I'm ready for the day." Renate Huwyler enjoys the sunrise in the rowing boat just as much: "The morning silence on Lake Zug is simply fantastic."

Preserving biodiversity
Flowery meadows line parts of the 5.1 kilometers through the golf park. Renate Huwyler explains that biodiversity is close to her heart in her role on the local council: "We have to make sure that we preserve these beautiful spots." Once she reaches the finish line at the Hünenberger Badi, the passionate sportswoman says: "Whether it's a marathon, work or politics, perseverance and determination help everywhere."
