First Trophy round for FC Aegeri presidents
Paul Hegner, President of FC Aegeri, at the start of his first round of the Zugerberg Finanz Trophy
The Zugerberg Finanz Trophy 2021 is history. Shortly before the end of the season, Paul Hegner, President of FC Aegeri, completed his first round. He gave an insight into club life at "his" football club.
Paul Hegner (50) has been President of FC Aegeri since 2019. "My children are football fans. That's why I found it an exciting challenge when I was offered the position." Corona came soon after. "Of course, I imagined my start would be different," says the man from Oberäger, while praising the good support from the canton. "We're really lucky how the clubs are being given a helping hand."
Paul Hegner used to play football himself. Today, the exercise enthusiast also enjoys being out in the snow and is therefore a member of the St. Jost Oberägeri ski club. He has also been president of the local tennis club. The format of the Zugerberg Finance Trophy is new to him, although he also jogs regularly. "I'm running this route for the first time today," says Hegner in amazement, adding: "A really exciting format! Ideal for getting to know the area." Hegner's job is also all about sport. He is Legal Counsel at the sports marketing agency Infront in Zug. When asked whether he personally still has sporting ambitions, the lawyer answers in the negative: "For FC Aegeri, however, there are a few ideas that I want to implement and goals that I want to achieve. These should be ready to go soon."
After relegation to the 2nd division, the 1st team's goal is to finish in the upper midfield. Of course, the president has the entire club at heart. "We have almost 30 teams and football is still very popular with both boys and girls. That's why we need a lot of people to get involved in an office. I'm thinking particularly of women, even though women make up almost 50 percent of the board." Anyone interested in joining the club can find information at www.fcaegeri.ch
