Healthy rivalry at the Zugerberg Finance Trophy

The Höllgrotten Harriers and Veloclub Menzingen have been battling it out at the top of the club rankings for years. Last Saturday, they met on the stage in Baar for a joint lap.
If there was a fair play prize to be won at the Zugerberg Finanz Trophy, it would go to the Höllgrotten Harriers and Veloclub Menzingen (VCM). Mia Morris, a long-standing member of the Harriers, contacted Kari Röllin, a member of the VCM board, with the idea of meeting up for a joint Trophy round. The Menzing cyclists gladly accepted this invitation to Baar, even though they had to complete the stage on foot rather than by bike. Among them was Daniel Etter, last year's altitude king, who is currently leading the kilometer ranking.
Run happy
This is the motto of the Höllgrotten Harriers. You can sense their enthusiasm for running as soon as you meet them. This was also the case last Saturday. It is a warm meeting of two dozen people with a shared passion for exercise. There are already a handful of cross-club acquaintances. The reason for this is an internal Harriers challenge. It contains 24 tasks for which you can collect points. These include five trophy challenges. For example: Take part in the Trophy more than 40 times or complete three mountain stages. Another challenge is to take a running selfie with a non-Harrier. As some of these photos were taken at the Trophy, one or two VCM faces were also included.
Coffee and cake
So off we went on a leisurely run. We chatted and laughed. Afterwards, the Harriers surprised us with a cake buffet from the car trunk. From chocolate cookies to orange cake and cheesecake, plus coffee and tea from a thermos flask. "They can't just run, they can also bake!" commented Roli Nussbaumer from the VCM, aptly describing the offer. "But we'll have to make an effort if they come to us," added board member Beatrice Nussbaumer. The dates for the next meetings have been provisionally set: First on "neutral" terrain on the stage in Ennetsee, followed by a barbecue after a lap of the stage in Menzingen.
It is these stories that make our hearts beat faster. The Zugerberg Finanz Trophy moves people who share their passion and creates new friendships.
