In the Aegeri Valley since Monday
Last Sunday, the Zug and Schmittli - Zugerberg stages came to an end. The running stage 06_Ägerital and the mountain stage 06_Oberägeri-Raten will now run until October 2, 2020.
Three new course records were set on the Mountain Trophy. Kevin Zürcher improved his own record by 15 seconds on his racing bike and Marco Hersche was 7 seconds faster than last year on his mountain bike. Janina Wüsts even beat the women's MTB record by one and a half minutes. Olivia Waser was the fastest woman on foot and by racing bike. Christian Berchtold from Gattikon took first place among the runners. Doris Nagel-Wallimann is also the measure of all things at the Running Trophy in Zug. She won all three distances and improved the course record for the medium distance by half a minute and the record for the long distance by almost three minutes. The fastest man over the short distance is Cecil Wheeler from Cham. Philipp Arnold wins the 5.9-kilometre middle loop and the 16.8-kilometre long loop
Finish in Ägerital
For many, it is the crowning glory of the Trophy season: the 17.2 kilometers around Lake Ägeri. The route is indeed a dream on a beautiful fall day. Bruno Schuler, stage organizer and OC president of the Ägeriseelauf, agrees: "Our stage offers a varied profile on the short and middle sections with lots of crisp passages on different surfaces. And the long route around the lake is and remains a gem."
Longest mountain stage
Roland Müller, member of Veloclub Ägeri, is responsible for the maintenance of the Mountain Trophy and characterizes the route as follows: "After an initial climb, there is a rather flatter middle section and finally, on the last kilometer, there's another opportunity to really push yourself in the crisp climb. You are rewarded for your efforts with a magnificent view of the Raten region and the Ägeri valley." At six kilometers, the route from Oberägeri up the Raten is by far the longest mountain route. And therefore a worthy final stage for the Mountain Trophy.
