Hans Staub, mayor of Steinhausen, was out and about on "his" stage last Saturday. He is delighted that the people of Steinhausen are motivated to take part in sport locally thanks to the Zuger-Trophy.

The lockdown continues. We must continue to stay at home. A little exercise in the warm spring sun is still good for you. "If we didn't have a crisis, I'd be skiing right now," admits Hans Staub. Instead, he does sport on his doorstep and takes on the short 01_Steinhausen stage. The 2.8 kilometers are enough. "I prefer mountain biking or inline skating," says the mayor, "but I think it's great that people do sport here and that the Trophy can also satisfy their sporting ambitions."

Quiet April
Things have also quietened down for the president of the 9,500 Steinhaus residents. After there was a lot to organize at the beginning of the Covid-19 crisis, numerous events and meetings are now no longer taking place. "We're still meeting in the municipal council, of course in compliance with social distancing rules, but otherwise there's definitely less going on than usual at this time of year," says Hans Staub, who has been active on the municipal council since 2007 and has been its president for a year and a half.

What next?
In addition to his political commitment, Staub also runs a mechanical workshop. "In my one-man business, I make small parts for machines and appliances of all kinds." The crisis is also being felt here. Now Hans Staub is eagerly awaiting the Federal Council's decision on April 16. Depending on the outcome, there may be a lot for the mayor to organize again. Until then, he is enjoying his time at home.
