New category for additional motivation

If you don't have an e-bike yet, you're sure to find the right model at Stöckli Outdoor Sports in Cham.

This year, there is a new category at the Raiffeisen Zuger Trophy: e-bike. Some may wonder whether this is necessary. We think it's definitely worth a try.

E-bikes are booming more than ever. By including this means of transportation, the Raiffeisen Zuger-Trophy is moving with the times and motivating another target group to take on the beautiful mountain routes of the Mountain Trophy. As in all other categories, the main aim is to get out in the fresh air and discover new, beautiful routes. All athletes who take part in the Trophy have a good engine. But it doesn't matter who is on the road with the best equipment, i.e. the most horsepower. That is why there is no timekeeping, but an alphabetical list of participants. We ask e-bike riders to wear a helmet and to be considerate of other participants. This way, the side-by-side will work wonderfully.

Close duel
E-bikes are not yet an issue in the current Winter Challenge. The main focus here is on fast running. As the route is slightly shorter due to the bridge being set back, a new course record is not possible. Martina Nussbaumer, the fastest woman last year, is also currently in the lead. Jennifer Heer is currently in second place, just like last year. She is only three seconds behind (as of 10.03.19).

Well-known leader
There is also no unknown leader in the men's race. Philipp Arnold from Cham has already taken the lead again. At the time of going to press, his time was twelve seconds slower than in 2018. The Winter Challenge will continue for another week and a half, until Friday, 22 March 2019, when the real action finally gets underway in Steinhausen and Auw.
