New supreme discipline
Timo Dainese, CEO of Zugerberg Finanz AG, loves cycling tours with lots of elevation gain. This gave rise to the new Zugerberg Finanz Brevet.
While the pre-start stage finishes with a new record, the first stage gets off to a brilliant start despite the less than spring-like weather. At the same time, the starting signal is given for the ultimate Trophy challenge.
What a final spurt! It was worth it, because the pre-start stage ends with a new record for times recorded: 964 participants completed the 5.9 kilometers along Lake Zug by walking or running! Last year there were "only" 892 starts.
Despite the rain and wind, around 100 exercise enthusiasts took on a lap in Steinhausen at the weekend and around 40 completed the mountain route from Auw to Horben. Speaking of mountain routes: is it possible to complete all six mountain routes of the Zugerberg Finance Trophy in one day in one ride? That would be a pretty challenging training session and this challenging training session now also has a name: The Zugerberg Finanz Brevet - the supreme discipline of the Trophy.
Idea of the presenting sponsor
The idea came from Timo Dainese, CEO of Zugerberg Finanz AG and passionate cyclist. Last year, he thought about a longer bike tour with an appealing number of meters in altitude. The plan didn't stop there. Timo Dainese completed the first mountain stage the following day, cycled to the next stage start, up to the finish and on to the next start. This resulted in a route with around 140 kilometers and 2700 meters of altitude!
Accordingly, this six to seven-hour bike tour is something for the hardy. Those who follow Timo Dainese's example will be rewarded accordingly, with an exclusive badge for their cycling jersey. He recommends tackling the route as follows: Horben - Michaelskreuz - from Zug to the Zugerberg - from Schmittli to the Zugerberg - Raten and finally the Chnollen in Menzingen. It is important that the mountain routes are ridden on their original route. Anyone who manages to do this by October 6, 2023 will belong to the exclusive circle of Brevet finishers.
