Now it's off to Zug
Erwin Wöber helps the Cham running group to scan the stamp cards.
The Raiffeisen Zuger Trophy normally takes place in Menzingen before the summer vacations. This year, due to the wrestling festival, it is going to Zug first.
From Monday, June 17, the timing device for the Running Trophy will once again be at the athletics stadium in Herti and that for the Mountain Trophy at Schmittli in Neuägeri.
The short lap of stage 05_Zug measures 2.1 kilometers. Those who complete the medium route run or walk 5.9 kilometers. It leads to Brüggli, along the lake to Choller and on the Cham cycle path back towards Herti. The long stage is really exciting. Instead of turning right in Choller, the route continues to Cham. Via Teuflibach, Eizmoos, Baregg - peppered with a few nice meters of altitude - it goes via Bibersee in the direction of Steinhausen. After a short stretch through the Steinhausen forest down to Blickensdorf and along the Lorze back to the start and finish. These 16.8 kilometers are perfect for training for the half marathon in autumn.
Worth the effort
290 meters in altitude have to be overcome on the 3.3 km from Schmittli to Zugerberg. The path winds its way through the forest, steadily gaining altitude. Once you are over the mountain, you can enjoy the wonderful view of Zug. And that is worth the effort every time - especially at sunset.
End of stage Sunday, 4 p.m.
The stages in Ennetsee and from Schönegg to Zugerberg continue until 4 p.m. next Sunday. In Ennetsee, the Cham running group will be taking care of collecting the stamp cards. Erwin Wöber is also helping out. He has been an enthusiastic member of the running group since 2014. "Challenging training in a group spurs you on. It's varied and a lot of fun with great running buddies," says Erwin, who works as a lifeguard at the Röhrliberg indoor pool. He tries to combine his running sessions with the Trophy whenever possible. His goal: "I want to run the 10 km in under 40 minutes. And if my health allows, to break the 3-hour barrier in the marathon."
