Now it's "really" getting going
The altitude challenge has been launched. 330 meters in altitude lie between the start in Auw and the finish on the Horben.
The Zugerberg Finanz Trophy officially starts on Saturday in Steinhausen and Auw. This also marks the start of the new altitude challenge.
The current Winter Challenge is once again on a record-breaking course and ends the day after tomorrow, Friday, March 19. From Saturday, two stages will run simultaneously again. On the one hand, the Running Trophy with start and finish at the same location and a choice of short, medium or long distances. On the other hand, the Mountain Trophy runs at a different location with start in A and finish in B, with 210 to 380 vertical meters in between.
Stage 01_Steinhausen
The beautiful circular routes measure 2.8 km, 8.4 km and 12.3 km. Reto Schorta from TV Steinhausen Allsport, who is responsible for the stage, enthuses: "The winding routes impress with their views and a pleasant mix of field and forest paths." Steinhausen is the most popular of the long stages. It has by far the most starts.
Rewarded with a view
Those who prefer a more challenging profile can start on stage 01_Auw-Horben as part of the Mountain Trophy. "Our stage is characterized by a climb with many changes of rhythm and two crisp ramps. The last section is flat and offers a wonderful view over the Reuss Valley and into the Alps," says Andi Amstutz from the Pauwerbikers, who is responsible for the stage. Over a distance of 4.8 km, 330 meters in altitude have to be overcome.
Start of the altitude challenge
Those who are diligent on the road will soon be among the winners of the new altitude challenge. Zugerberg Finanz, the new presenting sponsor, has launched this attractive format. Anyone who completes 2,500 vertical meters will receive a pair of exclusive Trophy socks from Zugerberg Finanz. Those who continue and climb 5,000 meters in altitude will receive a hoodie. The motto is: "It lasts as long as it lasts." The altitude meters collected can be seen in the corresponding ranking list.
