Off to Baar and onto the Michel
We are moving on. From Monday, April 22, the timing devices will be in Baar and Root.
The official time window for the first Trophy stage ends next Sunday, April 21, at 4 pm. From Monday, the timing devices will be set up in Baar, where participants can look forward to new routes, and in Root.
It is simply fantastic how actively you have started the season with us and are making active use of the anniversary offer of open routes. Last Sunday evening, three weeks after the start, the statistics revealed the following information: a total of almost 5,000 starts and over 31,000 kilometers covered. Eight participants have already completed a strong 10,000 meters of altitude and thus completed the altitude challenge and with Kathryn Watson, Armin Kirchhofer and Cielo Arnold, three super exercise enthusiasts who have already covered over 400 kilometers!
Next weekend we will officially move on, which means that the timing devices will be in Baar and Root from Monday. Kilometers and altitude meters can still be collected on all stages (except Menzingen). However, if you want to be included in a category of the overall ranking list, you must complete the route in the relevant sport by 4 p.m. on Sunday in Steinhausen or Horben. Otherwise the train has left the station.
New routes in Baar
Due to construction work, there are new routes in Baar. The iconic cross trails are history for the time being. All the new trails are shorter and have significantly fewer vertical meters: The short one measures 2.5 km with 20 m elevation gain, the medium one 5.4 km with 60 m elevation gain and the long one 9.4 km with a still crisp 240 m elevation gain. With 120 starts outside the official time window, the courses have already passed their baptism of fire with flying colors.
This was already the case years ago for the classic in the Rontal: not only have thousands of Trophy athletes tested the Michel route and found it worth repeating, but in 2015 the Tour de Suisse participants also took on the 3.7 km and 340 meters of altitude difference. Those who complete the route on foot do so on the 3.4 km path through the forest. And here, too, we have already counted 140 participants since the start of the Trophy.
