Off to the city OL
The OLV-Zug members at the mountain running training on June 12, 2020.
Many people know orienteering from their school days. And afterwards? The Zug Trophy offers the perfect opportunity to practise reading maps quickly again.
An orienteering route is signposted at each stage of the Running Trophy. The map is available at the start and there are 10 posts to run to. The current start is at the athletics facility in Herti. The course measures approx. 3.1 kilometers. On Sunday evening, August 23, Philipp Arnold from Cham leads the rankings.
Thinking and running
After last year's premiere, the Zug Orienteering Association (OLV) is once again taking care of setting the posts and providing the map material. The Zug association is thus offering anyone interested the opportunity to revive or even rediscover this fascinating sport. Orienteering originated in the far north with its vast forests. With its combination of thinking and running, it represents a balanced mental and physical challenge. If you are bitten by the orienteering bug, you can meet like-minded people at the OLV Zug, one of the largest orienteering clubs in Switzerland. The aim of the association is to promote orienteering in the canton of Zug and neighboring areas. Founded 48 years ago, the club now has almost 300 members aged between 3 and 80. At www.olv-zug.ch you will find all the details as well as information about the next event on September 20, the 50th Zug Spring Orienteering, which will now take place in the fall due to corona.
Family fun
The orienteering course in Zug is the shortest, but the 3.5 kilometers of the next stage in Ägerital are also easy for children to manage. This makes a lap with a map and possibly a compass the perfect fun for the whole family. The stage in Zug runs until Sunday, September 6.
