One Trophy round every day

21.03.2018 His goal: to have 40 laps under his belt after three weeks of the Winter Challenge. Last Sunday, he completed 42 laps. Thomas Walker from Menzingen is the new frequent starter king of the Raiffeisen Zuger Trophy.

Thomas Walker has been stopping at the Herti every day since February 24, 2018. There he walks or runs one, sometimes more, 5.9 km laps. Unimpressed by double-digit sub-zero temperatures, snow or rain. "When I walk the loop, I really enjoy nature," says Walker. His recipe against nasty conditions: Good clothing and hot ginger water.

A fixed place in the agenda

For Walker, exercise in the fresh air means total relaxation: "I work in a calibration laboratory. Accuracy has top priority there. When I stop my time at the finish line, I've left work behind me." It takes a good deal of willpower and organizational skills to fit the daily round into the schedule. "I work on the basis of annual working hours. That means I can organize my day relatively well," says Walker, although it's not always easy to find the time for the Trophy.

Looking forward to stage 1

Thomas Walker is looking forward to the official start of the Raiffeisen Zuger Trophy on Saturday, March 24, 2018. "I particularly like the middle section in Steinhauser Wald," he enthuses. He plans to run every route at least once throughout the season. "I haven't yet decided whether I'll also tackle the Mountain Trophy," says the frequent starter. Another goal is the triple: short, medium and long in one day. "I'm curious to see if I can do it." The anticipation of this challenge certainly shines in Walker's eyes.

The Winter Challenge runs until the day after tomorrow, Friday, March 23, 2018: Saturday, March 24, 2018 is the official start of the Raiffeisen Zuger Trophy in Steinhausen and Auw. The stamp cards will then also be in use again.
