Participation and distance records by the running meter
Records tumbled at the Zugerberg Finanz Trophy in Menzingen.
In Menzingen, there have never been so many participants at the start of the Zugerberg Finanz Trophy on both the circuit and mountain courses as this year. And once again, no one will be able to beat Philipp Arnold from Cham on the running courses.
On Sunday, July 16, the last day of the stage, a total of 165 times were recorded on the beautiful routes in the Zug Highlands! That makes a total of 919 starts on the circuits and an incredible 1336 starts on the mountain route up to Chnollen. By comparison, the previous record from last year was 699 participations on the circuits and 1191 on the mountain stage.
The most enduring
The slightly overcast sky on that last Sunday was ideal for "Spörtlen", so that many Trophy fans completed one, two or more laps. With a brilliant final spurt, Veloclub Menzingen managed to enter the summer break as the leader of the club classification and with a lead of almost 300 kilometers over the Höllgrotten Harriers. Sti Foerster from Baar is heading into the break with a lead of almost 2000 meters in altitude. He rode up the Chnollen eleven times on the final day alone. Heidi Müller is right behind him. She even mastered the 3.4 kilometers and 210 meters of altitude on the last day twelve times.
The fastest
Philipp Arnold once again stands out among the fastest stage runners. He ran impressive times over the short, medium and long distances as well as the mountain section. He even set a new course record on three of the four distances. Anyone who runs knows what it means to complete 14 kilometers at a pace of 3:36 min/km - considering the 260 meters of altitude! There were four different winners among the women: Sara Zurfluh (short), Lara Meyer (medium) and Doris Nagel-Wallimann (long) as well as Michelle Pickering over the mountain course. Urs Huber set a new course record on the mountain bike, while Nina Villiger won the women's race in the same discipline. On the road bike, the fastest man was once again Kevin Zürcher and the fastest woman was Claudia Sutter.
After the summer break, the Zugerberg Finanz Trophy will start its second-last stage on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at the Herti athletics facility in Zug (circuit route) and from Schmittli to Zugerberg (mountain route).
