Philipp Arnold continues to dominate.
Philipp Arnold improves his mountain bike course record after the Zurich Marathon.
Stage_02 of the Raiffeisen Zuger Trophy came to an end last Sunday. There are some familiar names on the podium. First and foremost those of Trophy dominator Philipp Arnold.
Among the seven Trophy disciplines of orienteering, e-biking, walking, Nordic walking, running, mountain biking and racing bikes, the last three in particular are all about fast times. The Running Trophy rankings for the short, medium and long distances and the Mountain Trophy rankings for mountain running, road biking and mountain biking are of particular interest. Philipp Arnold from Cham has the fastest time in five of these six stages. Two of them deserve special mention: Arnold overcame the long, winding course over 14.6 kilometers and 370 meters of altitude in a new record time of 57:06 minutes, beating his own best time by 42 seconds. Anyone who knows the course will be amazed at how this lap can be covered at an average pace of 3:55 minutes per kilometer. A superb performance! This also applies to Arnold's time on his mountain bike from Gisikon up to Michaelskreuz. Three days after setting a new personal best of 2:32.28 hours at the Zurich Marathon, he improved his own course record by 13 seconds and set a new mark of 13:19 minutes.
Only in the road bike category does someone else take first place, and how! Jens Groos from Lucerne rides to the Michaelskreuz in 12:12 minutes and beats his own course record by 22 seconds. There is also a new course record for the women's long running stage. Rita Wicki from Römerswil takes the lead with a time of 1:12:01 hours. Joana Murphy from Cham is on the running podium three times; 2nd place on the short course, 1st place on the medium course and 3rd place on the long course. Maartje Collignon was the fastest on the short course. She took second place on the middle lap. The winners of the Mountain Trophy are Conny Odermatt (running), Andrea Lauffer (road bike) and Eveline Villiger (mountain bike).
