Review of stage_01

The first stage of the Raiffeisen Zuger Trophy 2019 is history. Four new course records were set. One of them by the well-known Trophy dominator Philipp Arnold from Cham.

With the exception of the road bike, Philipp Arnold was the fastest in all categories of the Running and Mountain Trophy. In the mountain run, he improved his own course record by ten seconds to 20:22 minutes. He was beaten once, by Jens Groos. The Lucerne native mastered the 330 meters of altitude over 4.8 kilometers from Auw to Horben in 13:35 minutes. This improves Philipp Arnold's record by 22 seconds, although he was also faster than last year. His time of 13:56 minutes puts him in second place behind Groos.

Different winners
"Old acquaintances" also won the women's race. However, there were five different names at the top of the podium. Martina Nussbaumer from Menzingen was twice the fastest athlete. She ran the short, 2.8-kilometer lap in Steinhausen in a brisk 11:12 minutes. She also won the road bike category in 20:03 minutes. Mountain biker Eveline Villiger from Auw uses her home advantage to improve her own course record by twelve seconds. The new record is now 19:20 minutes. As last season, the strongest mountain runner is Conny Odermatt from Zug. The names of the winners over the medium and long distances in Steinhausen are still missing: Brigitte Nielsen from Walchwil is the fastest over the 8.4 kilometers and Rita Wicki wins over the 12.3 kilometers. The latter pulverizes the course record by almost a minute. The new best time is 52:31 minutes.

Congratulations
We would like to congratulate the winners on their top performances. The Running Trophy stage in Baar and the Mountain Trophy stage up to Michaelskreuz have been running since last Monday and will continue until Sunday, May 19, 2019.
