Riding out with like-minded people

The Baar-Zug Veloclub (VC) is responsible for collecting the stamp cards for the current mountain stage from Schönegg to Zugerberg. Lukas Schneller has been with the club since 2016. He was looking for like-minded people and found them at VC Baar-Zug.

Veloclub Baar-Zug is already 110 years old. Lukas Schneller is delighted that the number of members is constantly growing. "The mix of mountain biking and racing bikes for kids, young people and adults is what sets the VC apart," says Lukas, who is responsible for web administration on the board and organizes a racing bike weekend in addition to other organizational tasks. He himself actively looked for a club three years ago. "I often train alone, but it's also nice to go for a ride together now and again and have a chat." This is precisely why he recommends "his" club to anyone who enjoys going out for a ride and socializing.

Haute Route Alps awaits
Lukas spends five to ten hours a week training for races such as the Alpen Challenge, the Alpenbrevet and the Engadin Cycle Marathon. This year, a particularly challenging race is coming up at the end of August: the Haute Route Alps, a seven-day stage race through the French Alps, a kind of Tour de France for amateur cyclists. Training for the Raiffeisen Zuger Trophy fits in well with the plan. "It's great to be able to compete with others on these defined routes. But racing against yourself is even more exciting." He definitely wants to compete in a few stages this season and improve his own best times. Lukas also helps with map reading. The club organizes the work pragmatically. "We ask all members and fortunately there are always enough helping hands."

Zytturm Triathlon
Zug will be in triathlon fever again on the weekend of June 15/16, 2019. The 26th edition brings some new features. For example, a duathlon race with course lengths (5km/40km/10km) is also on the program on Sunday. Information and registration at www.zytturmtriathlon.ch.
