Ronja Hofstetter & Co. shine at the Trophy and the Zurich Marathon
The three at the Zurich Marathon at kilometer 33
They smashed course records and put in sensational performances at last Sunday's Zurich Marathon: Ronja Hofstetter, Philipp Arnold, John Whittington and Doris Nagel-Wallimann.
Last Sunday at 8 a.m., the starting gun was fired on the Quaibrücke in Zurich for the 42.195 kilometers to Meilen and back. There were also runners at the start whose names are well known in the Zugerberg Finanz Trophy community. And they all delivered fantastic times. First and foremost was Ronja Hofstetter from Seetal. At the end of March, she beat Doris Nagel-Wallimann's course record over the long distance in Steinhauser Wald by over one and a half minutes. In only her second marathon, she ran 2:38:48 on Sunday behind Kenyan Monicah Jeptoo to win the silver medal! Doris Nagel-Wallimann also put in a fantastic performance in her 16th marathon. With her time of 2:43:05 h, she took fifth place and won her age group (W40-44). She also improves her personal best by over two minutes.
Arnold again strong
Philipp Arnold from Cham is also getting better and better. He improved two of his own Trophy course records: the one in Steinhauser Wald over the middle distance by one second and the one for the mountain course from Auw to Horben by 17 seconds. He had to hand over the record for the middle Steinhaus course to John Whittington. However, Arnold was faster over the 42.2 kilometers along Lake Zurich. In his 18th Zurich Marathon, Arnold crossed the finish line in a new personal best time of 2:30:40 hours, almost two and a half minutes faster than Whittington, who crossed the finish line in 2:33:06 hours. Arnold is also currently leading the Trophy rankings in the mountain bike and road bike disciplines. Born in 1987, the family man is and remains a phenomenon.
Emma Pooley did not take part in the Zurich Marathon. However, as a former top racing cyclist, duathlete, triathlete and long-distance runner, her name should be familiar to some in the scene. She improved the mountain running course record on the Horben by over three minutes and set a new benchmark with a time of 24:46 minutes.
On Easter Monday, April 21, 2025, the stage starts in Baar (routes similar to the 2023 event) and from Root up to Michaelskreuz.
