Review of the 20th edition
This year's Trophy ended wet and cold, but also extremely successfully.
On Friday, October 4, 2024, this year's edition of the Trophy ended just as it had begun: wet and cold. But also extremely successful, as our statistics show.
Before looking at the statistics, we would like to congratulate all the winners of the overall rankings. The women and men were the best in their respective categories across all six stages. The fastest female runners over the circuits were Céline Osborn-Smith (short distance), Doris Nagel-Wallimann (medium) and Ronja Hofstetter (long). Philipp Arnold won the men's short and long distances, while Michal Grabowski was the fastest over the medium distance.
The fastest on the mountain
On the mountain stages, participants were able to compete in mountain running, mountain biking, road biking and gravel biking. The best women are Judith Kerins (mountain running), Claudia Sutter (racing bike), Eveline Villiger (mountain bike) and Judith Murer (gravel). In the men's competition, Philipp Arnold again won two categories, namely mountain running and mountain biking. On the bike, four seconds separated him from second-placed Marco Hersche. The racing bike gold medal goes to John Whittington and Benno Sidler secures first place in the gravel category.
With 15,389 km, the Höllgrotten Harriers are once again the most hard-working club this year. The Siemens team won the company ranking with 4461 km and Heidi Müller from Unterägeri was by far the most diligent participant of all. With 365 participations, she collected 2047 km and 125,040 meters in altitude!
Incredible figures
Now let's take a look at the statistics, the figures of which sound simply amazing: The organizers registered 20,400 times (previous record = 15,600) in which a total of 119,500 km were covered (previous record = 87,900 km) and 3.98 million meters of altitude were climbed (previous record = 3.17 million). This achievement was accomplished by 1400 participants, who started an average of 15 times. The average age of the 40% women and 60% men was 46 years, with the youngest participant being four and the oldest 92 years old.
The race will start again next year on February 22, 2025 with the pre-start of the 21st edition. Next year, the circuits will once again be open throughout the season. For the mountain routes, the organizers are going back to the four-week time slot. We look forward to seeing you!!!
