Small but nice.
Renato films Willi and Andreas to analyze their running style.
The Dynamix running technique workshop was due to take place in May. That Monday evening it was cold and rainy. Renato Balasso therefore postponed his workshop to yesterday, Saturday, June 30. Now that we were honing our running style in the store instead of outdoors, the weather was midsummery.
Of the 15 participants originally registered for the Zug Trophy, only two made it to the Alte Steinhauserstrasse in Cham: Andreas Hägi and Willi Giger. Also present is Jürgen Küttel, Managing Director of Sensolar and also a stage sponsor of the Raiffeisen Zuger-Trophy. He begins by explaining the numerous advantages that the solar shading from <link www.lifeforce.ch/produkt-kategorie/produkte/sensolar/>Sensolar</link> has over competing products.
After a handful of important running ABC exercises, Andreas and Willi complete a few minutes on the treadmill. Renato films them from all sides. We then study the images together. "Andreas is a strong heel runner. As such, his body has to absorb a lot of strain. And it slows him down because you lose momentum when you put your heel down," explains Renato. The body's center of gravity first has to be brought forward again, which costs unnecessary energy. For Willi, it's the arms. The dynamic pendulum motion practically doesn't happen at all.
The second step is to implement the findings. Andreas Hägi now tries out how it feels to put his foot on the front. His run immediately seems much more dynamic. "Switching from running on the heel to the forefoot takes an incredible amount of time. Two minutes on the forefoot every now and then is completely sufficient at the beginning," advises Renato. This changeover must be approached very gently. "I definitely want to try it out. The difference between the two video recordings is striking," says Andreas, summarizing what he has learned.
Willi also benefits from the input: "I wasn't even aware that the arms contribute so much to an economical running style. And seeing how I move my arms and how I don't move them opens my eyes." Willi adds that he is definitely taking the advice to heart.
A successful event on a very small scale, with the schnitzel water from <link www.knutwiler.ch>Knutwiler</link> providing the necessary cooling and the vouchers from <link www.fitnesspark.ch/de/standorte/luzern/eichstaette-zug>Migros Fitnesspark</link> motivating the next treadmill session.
