Solidarity run for Ukraine: every kilometer counts

A run in the sunshine - a luxury that we often don't perceive as such.

In view of the current situation, a run in the fresh air helps us to forget the suffering in Eastern Europe for a moment. They are rounds full of gratitude for the high quality of life in our region.

If everything goes according to plan, we often barely notice. It's only when there's a pinch somewhere or a tragic event strikes that we remember how much quality of life the majority of us enjoy. The latest news also gives you pause ... Get out of your soft bed, take a sip of clean drinking water from the tap, a fresh Bircher muesli from the fridge, put on your warm winter jacket and head outside into the fresh air without fear! It's all so normal and yet we can't take it for granted.

Pre-start as a solidarity run
"We can indulge in our hobby without any worries. That's why we spontaneously came up with the idea of turning the pre-start into a solidarity run," says Reto Benz, project manager of the Zugerberg Finance Trophy. In the current newsletter, he asks the Trophy community: "Zug - Kiev - Zug. By land, this distance is 5,000 km. Can we manage to run this distance together as part of the pre-start?" Half of the distance has already been covered, as over 2,600 kilometers had already been collected by Sunday. Every start counts, Benz continues: "As the organizers, we are donating fifty centimes for every kilometer. We would be delighted if we could collectively reach the target of CHF 2,500 for Swiss Solidarity by 8 p.m. on Friday, March 25, 2022."

Start in 10 days
The official Zugerberg Finanz Trophy starts on March 26, 2022 in Steinhausen and Auw. In Steinhausen, participants will be greeted by the beautiful routes through the Steinhausen forest. The road bike, mountain bike and gravel bike riders will also start in Auw. At the same time, the altitude challenge will pick up speed. There are 330 meters from Auw to Horben.
