The best for last

The final stage of the Zugerberg Finanz Trophy is underway. Varied routes in Unterägeri and Oberägeri welcome participants until October 1.

"We've saved the best for last," says Bruno Schuler, OC President of the Ägeriseelauf and responsible for stage 06_Ägerital. The lap around Lake Aegeri is indeed the crowning finale of this year's Trophy. At 17.2 kilometers, it is the longest stage of all. The short and medium distances of 2.4 and 3.9 kilometers are also tough with 60 and 110 meters of elevation gain respectively. Motivation for all those who are about to reach the 2,500-meter mark in the altitude challenge and thus a pair of socks or the 5,000-meter mark and the associated prize of a hoodie. The prizes are within reach.

The Mountain Trophy course is also the longest of the entire series. There are 6 kilometers and 340 vertical meters between the start in Oberägeri and the top of the pass on the Raten. Roli Müller, stage manager for Velo Club Ägeri, describes the route as follows: "Our stage can be divided into three sections: An initial climb is followed by a rather flat middle section and the final ascent gives you the chance to go all out once again. The magnificent view of the Raten area and the Aegeri valley is a reward for the exertions."

Arnold strong again

Last Sunday saw the end of the 5th stage in Herti (Running Trophy) and from Schmittli to Zugerberg (Mountain Trophy). Philipp Arnold from Cham dominated the rankings once again. He wins all three distances of the Running Trophy as well as the Running and Mountain Bike categories of the Mountain Trophy. He even sets a new course record on the bike. Kevin Zürcher is only faster again on his racing bike. He also wins with a new course record. The fastest women are Claudia Sutter (road bike), Eveline Villiger (MTB), Olivia Waser (mountain run), Natascha Osborn-Smith (Running Trophy short), Seline Stalder (medium) and Doris Nagel-Wallimann (long).
