The canton is once again supporting the Trophy.
On September 3, 2019, the cantonal government made its decision: The canton will continue to support the Zuger Trophy from 2020 to 2022, and the organizers are delighted to receive such an important financial contribution.
Reto Benz, project manager and initiator of the Zug Trophy, is clearly delighted: "The financing of the permanent timed routes depends heavily on the cantonal contribution. I am extremely pleased that the biggest chunk has now been secured with this commitment." Specifically, the canton supports the Raiffeisen Zuger Trophy with CHF 34,800 from the Swisslos Sports Fund each year it is held.
Important and right
Cantonal Councillor Martin Pfister explains the canton's support as follows: "The success figures speak for themselves. The Zug Trophy is now a permanent fixture and moves the entire Zug region with a simple and motivating offer." The Zug cantonal government acknowledges the years of work put in by the organizers, explains Pfister: "Something unique has been created that must continue. The financial support from the canton is important and the right thing to do." At the start of this year's event, Martin Pfister said that the successful history of the Zug Trophy was far from over. With this pleasing decision, the cantonal government confirms this statement.
Shared Trophy feeling
Felix Jaray, Head of the Zug Sports Office, is also enthusiastic about the Zug Trophy: "Fifteen years ago, the organizers had the courage to try something new and thus provide the population with an additional, attractive training opportunity. They should be able to continue to do so." Martin Pfister and Felix Jaray agree that the low-threshold nature of the offer is unique and pure motivation for all exercise enthusiasts.
