The fastest on a racing bike

NormallyPhilipp Arnold from Cham wins everything there is to win at the Raiffeisen Zuger Trophy. Not so in the racing bike category. Jens Groos from Lucerne is the fastest.

The hot temperatures of the last few days were not necessarily Trophy-friendly. Unless you clock your time with the sunrise. Or you sit on your racing bike and enjoy the downhill breeze. But first you have to conquer the Mountain Trophy stage. Jens Groos has won the first three racing bike stages. "Riding fast up the mountain is simply great fun. And I've set myself the goal of riding at the front of the Trophy this season," says the Lucerne native. Groos has also set new course records in two of the stages completed so far. With the ride up the Horben, he beat the record by 22 seconds. He improved his own course record up the Michaelskreuz by exactly the same time.

Commuting with intervals
Jens Groos trains with Pedro's bike store team, a small group of racing cyclists. "But the best training is the commute from Lucerne to Zug. Whenever possible, I ride my road bike to work. From time to time, I also incorporate interval training on the Zugerberg." Two or three times a year, Groos takes part in cycling races such as the Engadin Cycle Marathon or the Alpen Challenge on the Lenzerheide. And running? "I only lace up my running shoes in winter when black ice makes cycling difficult."

Ägeriseelauf - Already registered?
The countdown for the 21st Ägeriseelauf on Friday evening, July 19 at 7 pm is on. The event, which is one of Zug's top sporting events, enjoys great popularity every year. Those who are not confident enough to run the 14.1 kilometers can register for the pair run. And as the Zug Trophy goes into its summer break on Sunday, July 14, this beautiful run fits perfectly into the running agenda.
