The first 10,000 vertical meters are done
The "pAUWerbiker" Andi Amstutz was the first to complete the challenge.
The first participant has reached the 10,000-metre altitude mark and the number of participants is on course for a record halfway through the first stage.
Andi Amstutz, stage manager of the mountain stage from Auw to Horben, is the first participant to reach 10,000 meters of altitude and thus the highest mark of the altitude challenge. He definitely wanted to reach the limit on this first stage: "Due to my absence over the Easter holidays, I wanted to build up a hefty cushion beforehand," says the passionate mountain biker. In doing so, he found that he managed to master the 4.8 kilometers and 330 vertical meters up to four times a day despite the adverse weather. "A new goal emerged: 10,000 meters of altitude within 14 days, or before Easter," says the "pAUWerbiker". And with exactly 10,000 meters of altitude, Andi Amstutz took his Easter break on Maundy Thursday. Will he now "retire"? "No, every Thursday evening we, the pAUWerbiker, ride the stage", so he will be able to enjoy his favorite route a few more times.
The organizers can also congratulate the first brevet graduate on Maundy Thursday. Benno Sidler from Baar pedalled the 140 kilometers and 2920 vertical meters in just over five and a half hours, completing all the Trophy mountain routes along the way.
The high number of participants is pleasing, with the number of participants on all routes heading towards a record halfway through the time window for the first stages. On the mountain stage from Auw to Horben, there were almost 600 times on Sunday evening, in Steinhauser Wald the short lap was completed over 310 times, the medium 400 times and the over 210 times.
Training for the seriouscompetition
Some of the hard-working participants used the Trophy laps to get in shape for the next serious competition. For example, the Lucerne "GO-IN6WEEKS" racing series starts on April 19, 2023. A 10-kilometre run will take place every Wednesday evening at 7 pm until 24 May. The "Wings for Life World Run" also kicks off in Zug on May 7. The special format, in which you are caught up by the finish line, is suitable for all fitness levels.
