The next stage is imminent
The short lap of stage 05_Zug with start and finish at the Herti athletics facility measures 2.1 kilometers. The route of the middle loop is different from last year. It now measures 6.7 kilometers and branches off to the right after Letzi-Hof onto the cycle path towards Riedmatt. The route follows the Alte Lorze towards Baar and then branches off before the highway bridge back along the Lorze to Herti.
The long route is extremely varied, turning left towards the lake instead of right towards Baar at Riedmatt. The route runs via Choller, Hirsgarten Cham, Eizmoos, Pfad, Bibersee, Steinhauserwald to Blickensdorf and then back to Herti. At 17 kilometers, it is the second longest Trophy stage, which also has one or two crisp climbs with 220 meters of altitude. It is the ideal training lap for anyone taking part in the SwissCityMarathon in Lucerne on October 27, 2024. Incidentally, the starting places for this marathon and the half marathon are already gone. There are still places available for the 10-kilometer city run (registration at swisscitymarathon.ch).
Championship orienteering courses
The orienteering courses in the Herti quarter are also new. The Zug Orienteering Association has set up the courses "in the footsteps of the Swiss Orienteering Sprint Relay Championships", which took place here in June. This should increase the appeal of completing an orienteering race. Especially as this is the only fast sprint orienteering event in the Trophy.
For the mountain stage from Schmittli to Zugerberg, everything remains the same: Over the 3.3 kilometers, there are 290 meters of altitude to overcome. The trail winds its way through the forest, steadily gaining altitude. Once you are over the mountain, the wonderful view of Zug awaits you. And that is simply fantastic - especially at sunset.
