The Trophy goes into the summer break
Will the members of VC Menzingen use their home advantage to oust the Höllgrotten Harriers from the top of the club rankings? They still have four days until the end of the stage next Sunday, July 16, to catch up.
The Menzingen stage ends next Sunday, July 16, and the Zugerberg Finanz Trophy takes a four-week summer break. Those who miss running against the clock can start on July 21 at the Ägeriseelauf.
Hot days are behind us. Anyone who wanted to set a new personal best time on the road last weekend either had to set off early or have nothing but a tired smile for high temperatures. Although not necessarily with the fastest times, the Trophy athletes were active despite the heat. There could be new participation records for all distances on the circuit by Sunday.
Barbecue instead of a race to catch up
Can Veloclub Menzingen still use its home advantage to topple the Höllgrotten Harriers from the throne of the club ranking? One week before the summer break, the locals are still a good 280 kilometers short of the top spot. The cyclists are certainly motivated. This was evident at the cosy barbecue organized by the VC as part of the Trophy, to which the Höllgrotten Harriers were also invited this year. However, only Steve Bradford was able to accept the invitation, as all the other Harriers were already on summer vacation.
Soon the first 40,000 vertical meters
Just as Veloclub Menzingen and the Harriers are battling it out in the club classification, Partners Group and the team from presenting sponsor Zugerberg Finanz are going head-to-head in the company classification. It will be interesting to see how the duel develops during the stage in Zug, when the start is right outside the office door. In the altitude challenge, Sti Foerster from Baar is ahead of Heidi Müller and Urs Huber with almost 40,000 meters of altitude. Daniel Etter from Menzing currently has the most kilometers in his legs, ahead of Cielo Arnold from Muri and 74-year-old Armin Kirchhofer from Baar.
Test of form at the Ägerseelauf
Those who have trained diligently on the Trophy are now ready for the serious competition. On Friday evening, July 21, the 23rd edition of the Ägeriseelauf will take place. You can register for the race over a good 14 flat kilometers until 6.30 pm on site in Oberägeri. The starting shot will be fired at 7 pm.
