The Zugerberg Finance Trophy starts again
Timo Dainese, CEO of presenting sponsor Zugerberg Finanz, is looking forward to the start of the Trophy.
The Zugerberg Finanz Trophy has come of age! At its 18th edition, it boasts some cool new features. If you fancy it, you can start your hunt for kilometers as early as February 26, 2022.
Timo Dainese, CEO of presenting sponsor Zugerberg Finanz, sums it up: "The enthusiasm for the Trophy is impressive. It's great to see how many people are motivated by this unique format." The organizers are meeting this enthusiasm with progress. Strava is being added to the existing timekeeping options with a stamp card, sports watch, mobile app and manual entry. If you have an account there, you can link it to your Trophy account. All Trophy routes are stored as segments on Strava, so you are now automatically listed in the Zugerberg Finanz Trophy ranking.
Altitude meters are worthwhile
Last year, the altitude meter challenge led to participation records on practically all mountain routes. "We hit the bull's eye with the launch of the altitude challenge," says a delighted Dainese, adding: "We don't just want to be a sponsor. We want to develop, and we want to be part of it ourselves." That's why his company is rewarding the most hard-working athletes again this year; anyone who overcomes 2,000, 4,000 or even 8,000 meters of altitude can look forward to an attractive prize.
Let's get started
The pre-start stage kicks off on February 26. The 5.9-kilometre route has an elevation gain of 30 meters, making it the ideal start. The start and finish are at the Herti athletics facility. There are none of the now legendary timing machines at the start of this "warm-up lap". This means that the time cannot be stopped using a punch card. After the four-week warm-up phase, the race starts on March 26 in Steinhausen with the first stage of the circuits and in Auw with the first mountain stage up the Horben. Next week's Zuger Woche will include our special newspaper with all the information about the Zugerberg Finanz Trophy 2022.
