The Zugerberg Finanz Trophy makes a guest appearance in Menzingen
The Zugerberg Finanz Trophy is a guest in Menzingen until July 14.
The fourth of a total of six stages is currently underway. Until Sunday, July 14, 2014, the wonderfully hilly routes around Menzingen will be the focus of the Trophy action.
The Zugerberg Finanz Trophy is celebrating its 20th edition this year. As a result of this anniversary, participants can collect their kilometers on all stages during the entire duration from the end of March to the beginning of October - with one exception: Menzingen. Here, the routes are only signposted during the official time window from June 17 to July 14. This applies to the short, medium and long circular routes with start and finish at the "Hasental" farm as well as the mountain route, which leads from the "Hasental" over 3.4 kilometers and 210 meters in altitude to the "Chnollen". During the first week, the organizers were able to count 240 starts on both routes despite "unsummery" conditions.
Half-time figures
With the start of the fourth stage, this year's Trophy season has already passed the halfway point. So it's worth taking another look at the rankings (as of Sunday evening, June 23): In the altitude challenge, Heidi Müller from Unterägeri has pulled out an impressive lead. She is in first place with no less than 50,000 meters of altitude. Lukas Küng from Zug is in second place with 43,000 vertical meters. The top kilometer collectors are closer together: Cielo Arnold continues to lead with 890 kilometers ahead of Kathryn Watson with a good 870 and Sarah Paul with just under 850 kilometers. Arnold thus also leads the internal ranking of the "Höllgrotten Harriers", who will soon break the 10,000 kilometer mark with currently over 9600 kilometers. Watson and Paul are both riding for the Zug International Women's Club (ZIWC), which is in second place in the club rankings. The ZIWC ladies already have an impressive 6550 kilometers to their name. That leaves a look at the company ranking. There, the "Siemens" team has overtaken the "Zugerberg Finanz AG" and "Partners Group" teams with over 2500 kilometers.
Of the 1,200 or so participants, almost 60 have already reached the top stage of the 10,000-metre altitude challenge at the halfway point. In addition, there are dozens of Trophy fans who have reached the 300-kilometer limit, which was set as the equivalent of the 10,000 vertical meters. All details at zugerbergfinanz-trophy.ch
