"Then I just started running"
Sponsor and passionate runner: Adrian Risi, Head of Production and Technology at JURA Materials
A back problem got Adrian Risi, Head of Production and Technology at JURA Materials, into running. Together with Risi Services, he is supporting the current mountain stage 03_Zug-Zugerberg of the Raiffeisen Zuger Trophy. Out of goodwill towards the organizers and the sport of running.
Volleyball was his first great love of sport: "I played for around 25 years and was pretty good," says the 190 centimeter tall Zug native, who won a junior Swiss championship title in this sport, among others. Then he didn't do anything for a long time. Until one morning he couldn't get out of bed. A tense and inflamed back muscle was the cause. "Thanks to a sensational physiotherapist, with whom I trained three times a week for seven months, I am now free of pain," says Risi. He then realized that he had to do something: "I can't swim. I feel insecure on the bike because of my size. That leaves running." He started with 20 to 25 minutes. And today his weekly sports program comprises around five sessions. Adrian Risi has dedicated two of these sessions to functional training for around six years: "The success is noticeable. Since I've been doing it, I just feel good."
Competitions motivate
Adrian Risi also takes part in competitions. At the Ägeriseelauf on July 20 and the half marathon in Lucerne. And Risi is fast: "I'm aiming to stay under 1:30 hours again in Lucerne. We'll see if I can do that again."
A great thing
Risi is rarely out and about on the stages of the Raiffeisen Zuger Trophy. Nevertheless, he thinks it's a great cause: "We like to support projects like this. There are people behind it who put their heart and soul into it." And since his heart beats for running anyway, the stage sponsorship is an ideal fit for him and his company.
