Time to get the running shoes out of the closet.
Slowly but surely, the Raiffeisen Zuger Trophy is making a comeback. The Winter Challenge kicks off on February 23. The Swiss Wrestling and Alpine Festival is already looming on the horizon.
What is the Winter Challenge? As always, the Raiffeisen Zuger Trophy is all about getting out in the fresh air. In the Winter Challenge, which starts and finishes at the athletics facility in Herti, you time yourself with your smartphone. There is no timing device at the start, so there are no stamp cards. It's still fun, however, and if you want to be one of the frequent runners, you are well advised to run the almost 6 kilometers between 23 February and 22 March.
Slightly shorter
The route of the Winter Challenge is identical to the middle lap of stage 05_Zug. This stage will take place before the summer vacation this year. Due to the Swiss Wrestling and Alpine Festival (ESAF), we are swapping the 04_Menzingen and 05_Zug stages. For the same reason, we cross the Lorze a few meters to the south, over a temporary bridge. This shortens the route minimally.
Important sporting dates
The following important sporting events are on the agenda before the ESAF. From 17 April to 22 May, on Wednesday evenings, the Go-In6weeks running series will take place at our Lucerne neighbors. On Thursday evening, 16 May, the B2Run is on the program in Zug. Which company will be sending its employees on the 5.5-kilometer run? Just three weeks later, on Wednesday evening, June 5, Global Running Day, the new edition of the Zugerberg Classic will start. The starting signal for the 26th Zytturm Triathlon is given in mid-June and the Ägeriseelauf takes place on July 19.
The best way to cut a fine figure at all these events is to train for the Raiffeisen Zuger Trophy. It officially starts on March 23.
