Trophy premiere for the CEO of EVZ
Patrick Lengwiler knows the Raiffeisen Zuger Trophy. After all, the 5th stage starts right next to the Bossard Arena, his second home. He has been an active participant since the beginning of September.
His shoes look a little worn. Does Patrick Lengwiler run so much that his shoes are already worn out or is running not really his thing and he has been wearing the same pair for years? "Definitely the latter," smiles Patrick Lengwiler, CEO of EVZ since 2012. And he adds: "If sport, then jogging, but once, maybe twice a week. At most."
From junior coach...
Lengwiler grew up in Arth and first moved to Zug at the age of 20. He has been associated with the EVZ for just as long. "I started as a junior coach in 1997." An honorary position that the then high school graduate really enjoyed. A year later, he was asked whether he would like to take on a more intensive coaching role. "This came in handy because, although I had my A-levels in my pocket, I didn't know what I wanted to study." His time on the ice became more and more, while his time at the bank, where Lengwiler completed an internship in IT, became less and less.

Patrick Lengwiler became Head of Sport in 2004. By far the youngest in the league. In this role, he also oversaw the construction of the Bossard Arena, which opened in 2010. "A good infrastructure is the basis for success. It was absolutely crucial for our club that we were able to move into the new stadium 10 years ago," Lengwiler looks back. The new stadium made it necessary to restructure the club's management and Patrick Lengwiler was appointed CEO in 2012. A real dishwasher's career. He still benefits today from the fact that he started at the bottom: "Without the many volunteer hours of our people, our success would not be possible, so their appreciation is correspondingly important."
Simply brilliant
And how was the Trophy round? "Simply brilliant," says Lengwiler, "it's great how much energy those responsible put into this project." And what about new shoes? "Probably not this year..." Understandable, the EVZ boss has other priorities at the moment
