Unrivaled on the road at the age of 71
On the long running stage, opponents in his age group are few and far between. Every now and then there are one or two competitors. Most of the time, however, Fredy Peer from Cham finishes alone. The fit 71-year-old loves the varied Trophy running routes.
Fredy Peer has been a regular participant in the Raiffeisen Zuger Trophy for a good two years: "By 'regular' I mean that I do all the running stages," says Fredy. He has been running for a long time. But the Trophy has introduced him to many great routes. However, he doesn't have a favorite route because all the stages have their charm. He likes the long loop through the Steinhauser forest for a relaxed endurance run. Baar and Menzingen are quite demanding and therefore a real sporting challenge. He likes the long Zug route because it leads through four municipalities and the loop around Lake Aegeri is the ideal half marathon preparation.
A privilege for Zug
The Zug Trophy is a privilege for Zug, enthuses Fredy Peer: "Other cantons envy us for this sensational facility. Where else can you take part in a 24-hour running event, compete with others and look forward to exciting long-distance duels?" The virtual ranking list and the comparison with others, as well as with his own performance, show Fredy how fit he is. He enjoys taking part in official running events, of which the half marathon in Lucerne is always the highlight at the end of the season. This year is no exception. After running several marathons, Fredy Peer wants to complete the 21.1 kilometers in less than two hours in October.
Versatile sportsman
Although running is his passion, Fredy Peer also enjoys other sports. You can also meet him on the golf course. "But it's true of me that joggers are bad golfers," smiles Fredy. In the summer vacations by the sea on a surfboard and in winter on skis. "But never doggedly, always moderately and with a lot of fun." The perfect recipe for staying sprightly at the age of 71.
