VC Baar-Zug: Club Challenge on the Zugerberg
The Baar-Zug Cycling Club completed 125 laps (Schmittli – Zugerberg – Allendwinden – Schmittli) and climbed 37,5000 meters in elevation during its internal ride.
The sixth stage of the Zugerberg Finanz Trophy concluded on Sunday, September 6, 2026. The Baar-Zug Cycling Club used the route from Schmittli to Zugerberg for an internal championship.
It took place right at the start of the stage: the VC Baar-Zug’s internal “Elevation Gain Challenge” ride. Participants rode the Schmittli–Zugerberg–Allendwinden–Schmittli loop as many times as their strength, desire, and mood allowed. Registrations trickled in slowly at first, but in the end, 19 riders were at the starting line. Marco Sievi, who, together with Guido Erroi, is responsible for sponsorship, marketing, and communications on the board, raves about the fantastic experience: “Thanks to the team spirit, we motivated each other to add one more lap after another, even though we’d decided just moments before that it would be our last.” In total, they completed 125 laps, each with just under 300 meters of elevation gain, for a total of 37,500 meters of elevation gain. “It was simply a wonderful experience,” Marco says, summing up the ride. With 13 laps, the red-polka-dot mountain jersey went to Max Thomasius.
Satisfied with the Mid-Season Results With nearly 13,000 starts and 74,000 kilometers covered, the organizers are satisfied with the Trophy season so far. Compared to previous years, the hot weather slightly reduced the number of participants. However, there are still numerous participants this year who are shining with incredible performances. Peter Berweger and Paul von Holzen have already clocked over 1,400 and 1,200 kilometers, respectively. The two also lead the rankings in the elevation gain challenge: Peter has 90,000 meters of elevation gain, while Paul has around 62,000. In the club standings, the Menzingen Cycling Club is in the lead, and Siemens tops the corporate rankings. The outcome in these two categories appears to have already been decided. For the final four weeks of the 2026 season, the Zugerberg Finanz Trophy will be held in the Ägeri Valley before taking a winter break starting Friday, October 2, 2026.
