Veloclub Menzingen on its home stage
Next Sunday at 4 pm, the stage ends in Menzingen and the Zug Trophy bids farewell to the summer vacations. Veloclub Menzingen has been busy collecting kilometers on its home stage.
Marit Seidel, treasurer and a member of VC Menzingen for 10 years, is delighted to be able to ride out with her club colleagues again: "The coronavirus also paralyzed our club life for quite some time. Fortunately, we were also able to indulge in our hobbies, be it cycling or running, during the lockdown." They only completed the stages of the Zug Trophy individually. There have been no group events as in previous years. Accordingly, the VC Menzingen club account counts fewer kilometers. "Nevertheless, we've been busy promoting the Trophy," says Marit Seidel.
A fit start
After the lockdown, everyone has started club life fit and healthy. "It's great that we can be out and about together again and maintain social contacts." Numerous bikers are once again taking part in the Wednesday rides. The racing bike tours on Sundays are also attracting a lot of interest. "We do everything we can to comply with the FOPH's requirements for the rides," emphasizes Marit Seidel.
Making up for lost kilometers
While the Zug Trophy makes a guest appearance in Menzingen and the bike club takes care of recording the times, the Wednesday bike tour starts with the stage of the Mountain Trophy from Menzingen to Chnollen. "All VCM members support our home stage and we do our best to make up for the 'lost' club trophy kilometers." In the second half of the year, the club wants to stick to its traditional events whenever possible. The program includes the August 1st ride, the bike weekend and participation in the Wilersee Stafette on 19 September 2020. Marit Seidel: "This event is always a great club experience. We therefore very much hope that corona will not stand in the way of holding it."
