Who is running in the classic on the Zugerberg?

A must for all running enthusiasts: the 26th Zugerberg Classic takes place on June 1.
Next Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at 6.48 pm, the starting signal will be given for the run up our local mountain. It is the first Zugerberg Classic under the new presenting sponsor Zugerberg Finanz.
It is already the 26th edition of the Zugerberg Classic and the third under project manager Andreas Grüter. After last year's forced break, his anticipation is particularly high: "I'm looking forward to the running festival, which starts in the heart of Zug's old town and ends at the Vordergeissboden restaurant after an additional loop on the Zugerberg. As in previous years, the event will once again take place on the first Wednesday in June, Global Running Day." Zugerberg Finanz is also a new presenting sponsor on the route. "Thanks to this partnership, we had early planning security for this year's edition. Together and with a lot of enthusiasm, we want to further develop the popular traditional Zug event," says Grüter.

Run for Fun
Running is fun - this is the message of the Global Running Day. Running as part of an event like the Zugerberg Finanz Classic underlines this fun factor. This is precisely why you can also start in Zug in the "Run for Fun" category, which is timed but not ranked. Even those who fight for every second in the "Rock the Hill" category over the 6.6 kilometers and 540 meters of altitude will be flooded with happiness hormones at the finish line, thanks to the magnificent view. It's definitely worth taking part, and all starters receive a finisher's gift. Last-minute participants can register at the Landsgemeindeplatz up to half an hour before the start.
Speaking of a finisher's gift, the altitude meters on 1 June also count towards the Zugerberg Finanz Trophy altitude meter challenge. This challenge rewards those who collect altitude meters on the Trophy stages, regardless of their pace. And the Zugerberg is also the focus of the current mountain stage.
