We say goodbye to the winter break
The ZIWC ladies are delighted with their silver medal in the club competition.
Next Friday, 6 pm, is the end for this year. You have achieved extraordinary things. For example, the Zug International Women's Club, or ZIWC for short. By last Sunday evening, the ladies had collected a whole lot of kilometers.
15 hoodies, 20 multifunctional scarves and 25 pairs of socks - that's the "yield" of the ZIWC participants ten days before the end of the season. In other words: 15 times the 300 kilometers were broken, 20 times the 150 kilometers and 25 times the 75 kilometers. And there are sure to be a few more kilometers to come before October 4. Kathryn Watson and Sarah Paul currently lead the internal rankings with around 200 starts. Even though they have been friends for years and often run together, they emphasize that second place in the club ranking is definitely a team effort. "Our club offers a wide range of activities, so we motivated our colleagues to come to the Trophy with us."
What excites Kathryn, Sarah and their colleagues about the Trophy? "We really enjoy taking part because it gets people of all ages out into the fresh air. There is something for every fitness level among the different routes." The women from Australia, Belgium, England, Canada, Sweden, Denmark, South America, the Netherlands, Germany and Switzerland are mostly walking. "Our different backgrounds always lead to very interesting conversations. We like to combine this with exercise in nature. And the open routes naturally make it much easier to collect kilometers," say the two. And if the many participations even resulted in a profit, they would be happy to donate it, which provided additional motivation for the whole group.
After finishing 19th in 2022 and 8th last year, the ZIWC is delighted to have won the silver medal. And which is Sarah and Kathryn's favorite stage? "Steinhausen, the path through the forest is simply beautiful." The official starting signal for the 21st edition of the Zugerberg Finanz Trophy will be given there in six months' time, on March 22, 2025.
