Zug Trophy 2020 is history
Last Friday, October 2, the 16th edition of the Raiffeisen Zuger Trophy came to an end. The organizers draw a positive balance.
With around 7,300 starts, the Trophy participants collected around 43,000 kilometers. An impressive result. The achievements of individual participants are also impressive: Regula Lehmann from Zug is the second participant after Mattias Derungs to have started over 1,000 times since 2005. This year alone, she has collected over 1,000 kilometers. Maja, Sara and Simon Dietrich have run and experienced over 2,200 kilometers together this year. And at the age of 88, Werner Bleicher from Baar completed four stages of the current edition, including the mountain route up the Raten.
Distance records by the meter
Doris Nagel-Wallimann was fast this year. With many running events canceled, the 37-year-old proved her form at the Trophy. In her 13 starts, she broke the course record in ten stages! This means she wins the overall ranking for the short and medium distances. The overall winner over the long stages is Sara Hübscher. Olivia Waser wins in the mountain run, Heidi Müller on the road bike and Janina Wüst is number one on the mountain bike. As in previous years, Philipp Arnold from Cham is the Trophy dominator among the men. He wins five out of six overall rankings (running short, medium, long, mountain bike, mountain run). He was only beaten by Kevin Zürcher on the road bike.
Club and frequent starter trophy
Victory in the club trophy was fiercely contested right to the end. In the end, the Höllgrotten Harriers won the duel with 5,640 kilometers, relegating Lauftreff Zug to second place with 5,480 kilometers. Bronze went to Veloclub Menzingen. René Tanner from Freiämter started 206 times and walked and ran a total of 1,007 kilometers. He therefore wins the frequent starter trophy. Second place went to Regula Lehmann and third place to Maja Dietrich. With these incredible performances, the Zuger Trophy says goodbye until February 22, 2021, when it starts again as part of the Winter Challenge.
