Zug Trophy also during the corona break

Stage 01_Steinhausen ended last Sunday with a record number of participants. For the time being, no Trophy starts are possible in the coming weeks.

Although the FOPH's rules of conduct and hygiene were observed in Steinhausen and the requirements of the Zug canton authorities were implemented, stage 02_Baar will be suspended for the time being. As there are already a lot of people on the three circuits, the Zug Trophy should not generate any additional traffic. In addition, large parts of the routes lead over narrow forest paths, making it difficult to comply with the distancing rules. The second stage of the Mountain Trophy will also be suspended due to a lack of authorization from the canton of Lucerne. The Zuger-Trophy organization team supports the decision and asks for your understanding for the measures taken.

Participant and course records
The figures for the completed stage through the Steinhauser Forest are pleasing. A total of over 1640 times were registered, a new record number of participants. Of these, 467 started on the short stage, 621 on the medium stage and 400 on the long stage, plus almost 160 times on the orienteering course. Doris Nagel-Wallimann secured first place in the short and medium stages, each with a new course record. Over the 2.8 kilometers she improved her own record by 29 seconds and over the 8.4 kilometers she beat her previous best time by 33 seconds. Caroline Heeb from Oberrüti was the fastest runner over the 12.3 kilometers with a time of 54:41 minutes.

Philipp Arnold wins
In the men's race, the picture is the same as so often in recent years. Philipp Arnold from Cham wins all three categories. Over the middle distance, his lead over second-placed Isidor Christen was over 2:30 minutes. The decision over the 2.4 kilometers, on the other hand, was close. Only two seconds separated Pierre Fournier from Arnold.
