A fan of the Zug Trophy for 13 years

After just one week, the organizers have already counted 250 starts at the Winter Challenge. Adrian Krahn was also out and about at the weekend. He is a big fan of the Trophy and has been running all the stages regularly since 2007.

The statistics show that the Winter Challenge is already on course for a record after just one week. Almost 400 times were recorded at the premiere in 2017, 330 in 2018 and 384 last year. Now there are already 250 times after just one week. A promising record.

A longstanding participant
Adrian Krahn has also started twice. The Basel resident has been competing in the Trophy for 13 years. "I moved to Cham in 2005 and got to know the area through the Trophy." Back then, there were only a few stages. "Some of the signposting left a lot to be desired. On my first participation in Menzingen, I had to start the stage four times before I could finish it without getting lost," Adrian Krahn looks back. And when the stage took him over the Gubel for the first time, he was "completely blown away" on the mountain.

New love of sprinting
The 51-year-old used to be all about fast times. He still does today, but not at the Zug Trophy. What counts here is taking part in all stages over all distances. "I run the short, medium and long rounds, the Mountain Trophy and the orienteering. That makes a total of 30 runs per season." After 10 marathons, several half marathons and other races, the former footballer discovered his love for the sprint discipline last year. He is preparing for this in the Cham running group under the guidance of coach Patricia Morceli. Adrian Krahn regrets that the first highlight of the season, the Swiss Championships on March 1, has now been canceled. "Instead of the planned sprints, I have now completed a leisurely challenge lap." A pleasant alternative on the spring-like day.
