Awarded the rating "excellent" at the end of the season
Board member of Ägerital-Sattel Tourismus and passionate runner: Patric Arn
One question immediately arises: why is the name of this passionate runner, who lives in Unterägeri, missing from the Trophy rankings? "I live right up there, actually just a few meters from the start. But I never do this 'Schlungg' down here, I run directly in all three other directions." The 53-year-old would certainly have the fitness, perhaps not this year because he is currently recovering from back surgery, but definitely in previous years. Patric Arn already has several marathons and even a Biel Hundred in his legs. However, Biel was a few years ago, he says with a grin. "These days, I love combining a marathon or an ultra with a vacation," says Arn. For example, in South Africa, where the native of the Bernese Oberland lived for several years and trained in a running group. "Now everyone trains on their own throughout the year and then we run the 56 kilometers of the 'Two Oceans' in Cape Town together. A fantastic run on a breathtaking route!"
Running is also the order of the day at Christmas: "My wife comes from the Netherlands and we have a big family celebration on December 26. So it's perfect that there's a small but nice marathon in Leeuwarden, in the north of Holland, on December 24. That way, I can enjoy the festive season to the full."
Promoting young tourism talent
His election to the Board of Ägerital-Sattel Tourismus is based on many years of experience. Patric Arn has been working at the Graubünden University of Applied Sciences for three years. First as head of the institute and now as head of the bachelor's degree course in tourism. "I really enjoy introducing young people to this exciting industry. Tourism is very complex and, regardless of the destination, there are always numerous stakeholders involved." And how does such a proven expert rate the Zugerberg Finance Trophy? "I give it the rating 'excellent'. Not only does it motivate many people to get out and about, but also to do so in a different municipality, perhaps in an unfamiliar area," concludes Arn.
Two days to go. The Zugerberg Finance Trophy 2023 ends on Friday, October 6, at 6 pm.
