Enjoying the start

Antonio Giustra and Vita Leisibach are enthusiastic Trophy fans.

Vita Leisibach and Antonio Giustra are big fans of the Zug Trophy. They are part of the Glencore team and regularly stand at the start of the stages for the main sponsor.

Vita Leisibach has already clocked up well over 100 Trophy kilometers this year. Since her first participation in 2014, she has made just as many starts in total. The Ukrainian-born rider came to the Trophy through her daughter. "Alexandra's class took part in the School Trophy, but she was ill. That's why she made up her start a few days later and I accompanied her," Vita recalls. Since then, she has regularly taken part in the Trophy. She used to jog, but now prefers to walk. "I still wear the running shoes that I bought with the voucher for my 3rd place," says the 47-year-old with a laugh.

Trophy instead of competitions
Today, the long-time Glencore employee is out and about with her work colleague. Antonio Giustra has also become a diligent Trophy runner. "In recent years, I've only ever run in Steinhausen. I'm a member of the gymnastics club and because we run the stage, we do it together once." Now the 48-year-old Italian is also discovering the other stages. "Because many competitions have been canceled this year, I want to run all the Trophy stages." His big goal would have been the Zytturm triathlon in June.

Great support
Vita and Antonio work in the tax department at Glencore. Vita has been there for 13 years, Antonio for 18. They both think it's great that their employer supports projects like the Zuger Trophy. "Unfortunately, the Wings for Life World Run also had to be canceled due to Covid-19," regrets Antonio. Glencore supports the run in Zug as a premium partner. "There would have been a large Glencore group at the start to collect donations for spinal cord research," he says. We want to know whether everyone at Glencore is that sporty. "Certainly not everyone, but we are generally a rather sporty company. Glencore offers its employees fantastic opportunities to get involved in sport," enthuses Vita, adding: "We have a varied range of courses and a well-equipped fitness room." Unfortunately, this is currently closed due to the virus - but an opening is in sight. The majority of employees are currently working from home anyway. "We just do our laps outside", which is more fun than indoor training anyway.
