From Monday in the Ägerital
Saving the best for last: from Monday, the long circular route leads around Lake Aegeri.
The current fifth stage of the Zugerberg Finanz Trophy ends this Sunday, September 11. The final spurt in the Aegeri Valley begins on Monday.
The four-week stage window is already over and the Trophy moves on. The times for the circular routes with start and finish in Herti can still be stamped until 4 pm on Sunday. The same applies to the mountain route from Schmittli to Zugerberg.
From the Zugerberg, the route heads east to the Raten. The longest mountain route of the entire series awaits the Trophy runners and cyclists. 6 kilometers and 340 vertical meters lie between the start in Oberägeri and the top of the pass. Roland Müller, stage manager for Velo Club Ägeri, describes the route as follows: "Our stage can be divided into three sections: An initial climb is followed by a rather flat middle section and the final ascent gives you the chance to go all out once again. The magnificent view of the Raten region and the Aegeri valley is a reward for the exertions."
Also the longest circular route
"We've saved the best for last," says Bruno Schuler, OC President of the Ägeriseelauf and responsible for stage 06_Ägerital. The loop around Lake Aegeri is indeed the crowning glory of this year's Trophy. At 17.2 kilometers, it is also the longest of all the long laps. The short and medium distances of 2.4 and 3.9 kilometers are also tough with 60 and 110 meters of elevation gain respectively. Motivation for all those who are close to the finish line in the altitude challenge. The attractive prizes are within reach for many.
A surprise is looming in the club ranking. Will the Höllgrotten Harriers really have to cede their multi-year dominance to Veloclub Menzingen? An exciting final spurt is to be expected, while the crown of the king of altitude meters has probably already been awarded four weeks before the end of the season. Daniel Etter's lead is so big that his rivals Marit Seidel and Heidi Müller are likely to have their work cut out for them.
