Hochwacht in Lake Ennet
The children and young people of Hochwacht at the Zuger-Trophy.
46 children and young people from the Hochwacht Zug Athletics Club took part in the Raiffeisen Zuger Trophy on Wednesday, June 3 in Ennetsee. Together with their eight coaches, they clocked 60 times.
Instead of the Herti in Zug, they met at the Badi Hünenberg for once. Nadja Kehrli, one of the trainers, knows that this is not a problem: "After the corona-free training period, everyone was just happy that we were able to offer a training session again." It was also important on this evening that the protective measures were adhered to. "We had two start times so that we could stick to the rules and there weren't too many runners at the same time."
Focus on fun
Most of the young athletes completed the middle 5.1-kilometre lap, with a few taking on the short 2.2-kilometre route. The youngest girl is only 6 years old, while the oldest boy is 15 years old. The Trophy offers the right distance for everyone. It was not a club competition. Everyone runs for themselves, simply so that everyone has fun, says the trainer. Nevertheless, there is an internal club championship at Hochwacht. They are looking for the most hard-working participant over the entire Zuger Trophy 2020. And on stage 05_Zug, the club is also looking for the fastest participant over all three distances.
Zuger Highlands ready
From Monday, June 15, 2020, the timing devices will be stationed in Menzingen. Participation is still possible with a smartphone or by reporting times via the web form. The Menzingen Cycling Club is in charge of both stages of the Running and Mountain Trophy. Karl Röllin from VC Menzingen is delighted that the Zug Trophy is stopping off in Menzingen. "This way we can show all sports enthusiasts the beautiful side of Menzingen. Our landscape is unique," enthuses Röllin and adds: "The varied route of the Running Trophy, in the middle of a fantastic moraine landscape and high up to the Gubel, is a scenic delight." This arouses anticipation for the upcoming stages.
