It starts on Saturday.
Timing devices will once again mark the start and finish of the stages. From Saturday, March 23, 2019, they will be in Steinhausen for the Raiffeisen Running Trophy and in Auw for the Mountain Trophy.
The Running Trophy starts with stage 01_Steinhausen. The scenic circular courses measure 2.8 km, 8.4 km and 12.3 km. Stage organizer Claude Gasser enthuses: "The hilly routes in the local recreation area impress with their views and a pleasant mix of field and forest sections. Steinhauser Wald is a very popular training area for runners." Steinhausen is by far the most popular of the long stages. Long-distance runners took it under their feet over 370 times last year. That's more than twice as many as the second most popular long run in Baar with 170 starts.
Orienteering premiere
Now it is also clear whether the orienteering premiere will be a success. The route to reach all ten posts measures around 4.5 kilometers. For the experiment to succeed, it is important that the orienteering maps are used and that only paved paths are used. Cross-country running is prohibited.
Tough climb up to Horben
Those who prefer a more challenging profile can try the starting stage 01_Auw-Horben as part of the Mountain Trophy. "Our stage is characterized by a climb with many changes of rhythm and two crisp ramps. The last section up to Alpwirtschaft Horben is flat and offers a wonderful view over the Reuss Valley," says stage organizer Andi Amstutz. Over a distance of 4.8 km, 330 meters in altitude have to be overcome.
With the e-bike
Will the record number of participants from 2016 with over 1000 times be beaten this year? The new e-bike category could help. The organizers are curious to see how many motorized cyclists will take up the challenge. The view and the nice refreshment stop on arrival at over 800 meters above sea level are definitely worth it.
