Moving words from the participants
The Zugerberg Finanz closing aperitif was attended by 70 participants who completed more than 5,000 meters of altitude as part of the altitude challenge.
Timo Dainese, CEO of Zugerberg Finanz AG, looks back on the Trophy season with great pleasure. It ended with an emotional aperitif.
On the last day of the Trophy, the new presenting sponsor, Zugerberg Finanz, invited everyone who had taken up the challenge and completed the magical 5,000 meters of altitude. It is this format that has given the Trophy a huge boost this year. "The idea behind it was to create a category in which anyone and everyone can win," says Timo Dainese, "in the altitude challenge, everyone is only fighting against themselves - and against the altitude." 70 people - around half of those invited - enjoyed the opportunity to exchange ideas with other Trophy participants. After all, you're usually on your own and only know the names of others from the ranking list. "It makes us proud to be able to support this popular project. We were very touched by the feedback from the participants. We're really looking forward to the 2022 Trophy," says Timo Dainese.
Winners from outside the canton
A total of 12,930 times were clocked this year. The previous record was 10,500 participations. The organizers recorded a record number of participants on nine of the twelve stages. The Zugerberg Finanz Trophy moves the people of Zug, but not only them. It is striking that five of the six fastest women do not live in the canton of Zug: Andrina Lustenberger from Sattel wins the short running category and Seline Stalder from Knonau the medium running category. Olivia Waser from Einsiedeln is the fastest mountain runner, Claudia Sutter from Lucerne wins by road bike and Eveline Villiger from Auw by mountain bike. Only Doris Nagel-Wallimann, the winner of the long running distance, lives in Hünenberg See.
Among the men, Philipp Arnold from Cham once again won five of the six categories: Running short, medium and long, mountain running and mountain biking. He was only beaten by Kevin Zürcher from Zug on the road bike.
